Childcare
Affordable childcare is one of the smartest investments we can make for Salt Lake County families. But the Republican majority on the County Council voted to defund the County childcare program, making care more expensive for the working families who need it most. If I'm elected to the Salt Lake County Council, I will fight to restore and expand affordable childcare to ensure that working families can build a life here, and that our kids have the support to thrive.
Affordable Housing
Too many Salt Lake County families have been priced out of the communities where they were born and raised. If I am elected to the Salt Lake County Council, I will work with municipal governments to invest in and incentivize affordable housing across our county, so working families can stay in the place they call home.
Preserving Our Environment
Our kids deserve to grow up with the same clean air and clean water we did. As your County Councilmember, I will invest in programs to conserve water, protect the Great Salt Lake, promote renewable energy, and restore our air quality. I support the Utah Renewable Communities Program and oppose projects, like data centers and the Little Cottonwood Gondola, that sell out our environment to boost corporate profits.
Supporting Working Families
As a proud working-class union member, I know firsthand how difficult it can be to make ends meet when costs increase and wages fall behind. Labor organizing is the best tool working families have to correct that imbalance. If elected, I will fight to protect the right to organize for everyone who works in Salt Lake County, so the people who keep this county running can afford to live here.
Common Financial Sense
Our County Council raises taxes even when they haven't explored all available funding alternatives. As your County Councilmember, I will find every smart, efficient alternative before supporting a tax increase, and ensure that any new investment delivers real services for the working families paying the bill.
