Childcare
Childcare is already far too expensive for Salt Lake County Families. Unfortunately, County Republicans like Aimee Winder Newton want to make childcare even more expensive by cutting funding for affordable childcare. If I am elected to the Salt Lake County Council, I will fight to restore and expand affordable childcare services in Salt Lake County
Affordable Housing
Too many Salt Lake County families have been priced out of their homes. If I am elected to the Salt Lake County Council, I will work with municipal governments to incentivize and fund affordable housing initiatives across our county.
Preserving Our Environment
Our County Council needs to take more action to clean our air quality and preserve our water supply. As your County Councilmember, I will explore new programs to conserve water, protect the Great Salt Lake, and restore our air quality. I oppose the Little Cottonwood Canyon gondola and support public transit alternatives.
Supporting Working Families
As a proud working-class Union member, I know firsthand how difficult it can be to make ends meet when costs increase but wages don't. I also know that labor organizing is the best tool the working class has to correct that inbalance. If elected, I will fight to protect the right to organize for everyone who works in Salt Lake County, to ensure that people who work in the county can afford to live here.
Common Sense Tax Policy
Our County Council raises taxes even when they haven’t explored all available funding alternatives. As your County Councilmember, I will explore every possible alternative before supporting a tax increase, and ensure that any tax increases are matched by a corresponding increase in county services.
